People are being terrorised: Bhattarai
UCPN (M) leader Baburam Bhattarai has remarked that attempts are being made to terrorise the people as if there would be an apocalypse if the constitution is not delivered on Jan 22.Ekantipur Report
At an interaction organised by National Muslim Commission in the Capital on Wednesday, leader Bhattarai said, “I remember a childhood incident how all the people spent time in the open field outside their houses fearing a cataclysm, just because an astrologer predicted so. Now attempts are being made to mislead the people as if the world is going to end on January 22.”
He alleged that pro-parliamentary forces that emerged after 1990—Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML—were arrogant of their numerical strength in the CA. “They [NC and UML] have become so delusional because of their numerical strength that they think anything can be breached and they can impose anything on the people,” said Bhattarai.
He added the ruling parties are posing a serious threat to the rights of the people. “We have toiled hard to get guarantee of our rights.”
Bhattarai remarked that the desire of the people is not a piece of paper in the name of constitution. “We are not seeking any piece of paper but a constitution that guarantees our rights,” said Bhattarai. “Why should we promulgate the constitution on Januaray 22? What is the specialty of Jan 22? Is it the date ordained by any astrologer? It’s not that the CA will be dissolved after the January 22. We can promulgate the constitution on Jan 23 in case of delay.” People are being terrorised by the false impression.
