A meeting held among the top leaders of the two parties in the Capital on Thursday formed an eight-member ‘Party Unity Coordination Committee’ to speed up the unification process and
initiate works for necessary preparations, a joint press release issued by CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya and CPN (Unified) leader Pari Thapa said.
The coordination committee constitutes of Chairman Baidya, Vice Chairman CP Gajurel, General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, Secretary Dev Gurung from the CPN-Maoist and Pari Thapa, Ramsingh Srish, Sitaram Tamang and KB Gurung from the CPN (Unified).
A raft of dialogues held between the two sides for a long time with an objective of party unification found a common ground on Marxism, Leninism, Maoism, new democracy, people’s revolt, people’s centralism and working policy, it is stated.
According to the press release, the committee will mount initiative for finding a common stance on issues pending agreement, preparing a common ideological political proposal and prepare for organisational merger necessary for party unification.
