The completion of the construction of Rato Machhindranath chariot, which started on Monday, will take at least two weeks, said Rudranath Adhikari, Chief of Guthi Sansthan, Lalitpur. The deity will be placed on the chariot on April 19 with special rituals, prayers and offerings while the chariot procession will start on April 22.
The chariot construction is underway at Bungamati and the procession will start from the same locality as the 12 year special fair falls on this year, said astrologist Kritirmadan Joshi.
Joshi said the construction of the chariot which is nearly 32 feet tall and the ritual of the ten Karmas of the deity was currently underway. A rope made of wood, jute and cane is used to construct rivet chariot. RSS
