PM: Rs 100,000 for each bereaved family
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Wednesday announced Rs 100,000 to the family of each deceased. He also pledged free treatment to the injured.The announcement followed the PM’s visit to two hospitals in the Capital.
According to a statement from the PM’s private secretariat, the government would soon bring out a detailed plan for relocation and rehabilitation of the displaced people. Koirala also took stock of the situation in Baluwatar, Maharajgunj, Gongabu, Naya Buspark area, Machhapokhari, Sitapaila, Tripureshwor and Basantapur areas hit hard by the quake.
The government is preparing to announce relief package on Thursday as part of its preparations to address the earthquake victims’ demand.
On Wednesday, leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML held discussions in line with providing Rs 100,000 to the family of each deceased person and help them rebuild their houses.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli the poor have suffered the most and the government should try to give maximum relief. In response Prime Minister Sushil Koirala assured of addressing Oli’s demand.
