Life hit hard by rising mercury level in the Tarai
Rising temperature along with heat wave or loo has severely hit daily public life in the Tarai since the past few days.Life in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat in the central Tarai has come to a standstill, with people being forced to stay indoors specially during the day.
Furthermore, hospitals have been receiving increasing number of people coming for treatment of summer-related diseases. As usual, the children and the elderly have been hit hard. Viral fever, jaundice as well as heat-stroke have been reported to be on the rise, according to Paediatrician Dr Shyam Sundar Das, at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj.
The hospital is currently receiving 40 to 50 people every day coming for treatment of heat-borne ailments.
Likewise, the government offices have reported very few number of service seekers while schools and colleges have been running classes in the morning.
The average temperature in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat has been recorded between 41 to 43 degree Celsius in the past few days. RSS
