Nagarkoti appointed NSC Member Secretary

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has appointed Sakuntala Nagarkoti to the post of Member Secreary of National Sports Council (NSC).

This is the first time in the history of Nepali Sports, a woman has been appointed to the post.

Assuming the post here on Monday, Nagarkoti, a native of Purnabas of Kanchanpur, expressed her commitment that she would make maximum efforts for the development and expansion of the sports sector. She also expressed her belief that amendment to sports related rules and regulations was essential for the development of the sector.

She said, "Athletes, different organisations related to sports and leaders of political parties should be united to uplift the sport sector."

The President Running Shield Competition, which is in dilemma due to quake, would be organised from June 20, she added.

Nagarkoti was national player of Kabaddi and Volleyball in 2046 BS. She served as office-bearers of different sports related organisations since 2051 BS.

NSC Vice-Chairman Tendi Sherpa, NSC Administration Chief Indra Bahadur karki, among others, wished newly appointed member-sectary Nagarkoti every success in her new endeavour. RSS
