Young debaters set to represent Nepal in the WSDC 2015
Three young debaters—Yajyoo Shrestha from Trinity College, Avash Byanjankar and Pradeepta Adhikari from Chelsea College—will be representing Nepal in the World Schools Debating ChampionshipThe Nepali participants will be competing against participants from countries like the Netherlands, the Philippines and Taiwan.
The competition, widely deemed the best debating competition in the world, features students aged between 16 -18 from around the globe. The participants will be supported throughout the competition by Debate Yatra, a group that promotes the culture of argumentation in Nepal through dialogue and debate.
The people behind Debate Yatra believe that Nepal’s participation in the WSDC this year will go a long way in helping Nepal gain international recognition in debating tournaments.
The participants will be accompanied by team managers Kobit Baniya and Saurav Bhatta. Also representing Nepal will be Pradeep Ghimire, who will take the role of adjudicator during the event.
The participants from Nepal are also slated to showcase a folk dance during the Cultural Night section of the competition.
