President Ram Baran Yadav met CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya and Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal’s Parliamentary Party leader Ashok Rai on Friday and urged them to support the task of constitution writing. 

According to sources at president’s office, in separate meetings held at Sheetal Niwas in Maharajgunj, both the leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with President over the decision to mobilise in army in riot affected areas. 

“President replied to the leaders that he has sought reply from government regarding the matter,” said an official at the President’s office.

On Monday, eight security personnel were killed in Tikapur of Kailali during a riot demanding Tharuhat province. Following the carnage, government had granted authority to chief district officers of some riot-hit districts to mobilise the army if needed.

Urging the leaders to lend support for writing the new constitution, President Yadav stressed on the need to seek solution to the crisis through political dialogue.
