Lawmakers continue deliberations on Constitution Bill

At a discussion on the amended version of the Constitution Bill, 2072, lawmakers urged the agitating sides to put forth their demands in a peaceful manner.
So far, 325 lawmakers have offered their suggestions in the constitution draft.
Taking part in the deliberations today, Nepali Congress lawmaker Mahesh Acharya said that the new constitution has a great importance as it has protected the languages, religions, cultures of all communities.
He hoped that the issues raised by Tharu communities would be resolved soon as the Prime Minister has urged for talks to the stakeholders.
Likewise, CPN (UML) lawmaker Bidhya Devi Bhandari said that the current political leadership has the serious responsibility to maintain social harmony and national unity by promulgating the constitution in time.
Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the constitution for being the main law of the land should be the mirror of the society. He, however, said that the draft constitution has failed to do so.
Ram Kumar Subba of RPP-Nepal said that his party was for massive change in the draft of the constitution.
