In a press statement issued Tuesday, the NHRC said although the constitution and international law on human rights have guaranteed the rights to get involved in peaceful protest, the use of domestic weapons and children in any forms of protest, and demonstration of violent activities is against the basic principles of human rights.
The NHRC has shown its attention towards the human casualties, the results of firing from security force deputed in the agitation-hit areas for the security of people and their property, and urged both government and agitating sides to chose the talks as the best way for resolving the problem.
It called on the agitators to immediately halt the violent protest programmes and join the dialogue table with the government.
“The massive use of children in the protest demonstrations is against the Convention on Child Rights,” the NHRC reiterated, urging the agitators not to use children in their protest but help create an atmosphere to resume schools and hospitals remained closed due to the protest.
Besides, the NHRC has urged one and all to ensure smooth supply of daily essentials in the current adversity and not to curtail people’s right to free movement and making a business.
