NOC was preparing for its elections on August 5 but it had to be postponed for a month after the All Nepal Football Association (Anfa) said it had not met procedures. Thapa had said that he was not given timely written information about the elections.
NOC President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan had admitted the mistake and responded by postponing the elections and hold it completing the procedures by giving written information to its member associations. Current General Secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha and vice-president Umesh Lal Shrestha are in the race to be the new president.
Since the list of the candidates was already announced, Jeevan Ram and Umesh Lal will be battling for the two-man duel for the presidency. In a 17-member central committee, a three-way battle is expected with Lama Tendi Sherpa, Chhimi Urken Gurung and Dipraj Gurung filing candidacy. Chatura-nanda Vaidhya and Rajeev Shrestha are vying for the post of joint general secretary.
