Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Sanghiya Loktantrik Morcha decided to quit the current Constituent Assembly process on Saturday after the major parties registered a joint amendment proposal at the CA today.

The alliance had demanded that the deadline for the amendment proposals on the constitution draft be extended and the dissident groups be invited for talks. The deadline for tabling the proposals expired at 7 pm today.    

A leader of the alliance said that they decided to quit the CA process after Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) registered a joint amendment proposal to draft the constitution in the CA today. Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik Chief Whip Ram Janam Chaudhary informed that they have decided to provide a moral support to the ongoing protests in the Tarai regions. The alliance will also begin stern protests programme from Sunday, Chaudhary informed.
