In all, 12 teams will compete in the tournament where the champions will get a cash purse of Rs 260,000, while the four best players in different categories will walk away with two-wheelers, the organisers said on Tuesday. The tournament so far is the most lucrative in terms of cash prize in Nepali volleyball.
The best player, player of the year, talented spiker and player-of-the-series will get scooters, informed Club president Manbir Chhantyal. Nepal Volleyball Association President Dan Bahadur Tamang expected the tournament to contribute to the development of women’s volleyball in the country.
While the second-placed team will get Rs 130,000, the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place finishers will take home Rs 70,000, 40,000, 30,000, 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Nepal APF Club, New Diamond Academy, Nepal Police Club, Western Regional Volleyball Associa-tion of Pokhara, Tribhuvan Army Club, Chandeswori Youth Club, Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre, Nepal Chhantyal Association, Nepal Artistes Team of Kathmandu, Angels’ Heart HS School, Bindhyabasini HS School and Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association will compete in the tournament.
Apart from the cash prizes for the teams, the organisers will also give away Rs 5,000 each to the best players in six different positions—spiker, blocker, defender, lifter, libero and server— as well as the coach and manager.
