The Constituent Assembly session from 11 am this morning began voting on the articles of the new constitution.
The session, which endorsed the first three articles of the constitution, is expected to approve the remaining articles by this evening.
The draft constitution has 37 parts, 302 articles and 9 annexes. The article 70 of the Interim Constitution states that all the articles and annexes are required to be endorsed by two-thirds of the CA members present in the Assembly.
The major three parties—Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)—decided to move ahead with the CA process after the meeting with the agitating Madhes-based parties and Tharu parties/groups yielded no positive outcomes.
