According to sources privy to the development, the leaders told Ambassador Rae that the two nations should improve their relations and the problems of Nepal should be dealt by Nepali leaders itself.
The leaders drew the attention of Ambassador Rae to resolve the crisis seen at the entry points to Nepal from India where Nepal-bound cargo and freight have been left stranded at the Indian side of the border and have not been given clearance to enter Nepal.
In response, Ambassador Rae refused to acknowledge that the problems were created due to India. He said the obstruction was caused by the protests in Nepal's Tarai/Madhes region. But he assured of taking initiatives to resolve the crisis.
Meanwhile, the External Affairs Ministry of India issued a press statement on Friday, saying the recent crisis at Nepal-India borders was the result of of unrest, protests and demonstration on the Nepali side.
Ambassador Rae also said the same thing to Nepali leaders during his meetings today.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Rae’s planned press conference at Indian Embassy this evening has been cancelled. He was expected to present Indian’s view regarding the recent affairs.
