A Cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to release arrested leaders and cadres and provide compensation to the injured protesters for creating an environment for talks, said Information and Communications Minister Minendra Rijal.
Those facing criminal charges and offence, however, would not be released. The meeting also invited the agitating parties to talks but failed to agree on constitution amendment. The meeting also urged the disgruntled parties to respect the people’s to right to live peacefully.
The meeting also transferred CIAA Secretary Sridhar Sapkota to the Prime Minister’s Office and PMO Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi to the anti-graft body.
