Twenty-five-year-old Dharmaraj BK at Karkibada-5 in the district killed his wife and his uncle on Saturday night, accusing them of having an extramarital affair. Dharmaraj claimed that he murdered them in a fit of rage after he found them red-handed in his neighbour’s house.
Dharmaraj, a resident of Talcha village, hacked his 20-year-old wife Putali and uncle Gajendra BK, 27, with a sickle. Deputy Superintendent of Police Som Thapa said Dharmaraj surrendered to police after the incident. Police quoted Dharmaraj as saying that he was unable to tolerate the fact that his uncle was having illicit relations with his wife.
Dharmaraj said his wife left house and went to the neighbour’s home at midnight. “After the suspicious act, Dharmaraj went to the roof of neighbour. He first killed Jagendra after chasing him for 20 minutes and his wife later at their home,” DSP Thapa said.
Dharmaraj admitted to have killed his wife and uncle. He has been taken into police custody for further investigation. They have a three-year-old daughter and a one-and-a-half-year-old son. Police said the kids are left helpless as their mother is dead and father will be sent to prison.
Police said bodies of the deceased have been kept in the district hospital for post-mortem.
