Talks will succeed only with a clear road map: TMLP Chair Thakur
Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahanta Thakur has said the talks between agitating side and the government would be a success only if the three parties come out with a clear roadmap.Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahanta Thakur has said the talks between agitating side and the government would be a success only if the three parties come out with a clear roadmap.
Speaking at an interaction held by Raft Sanchar Club at Bhaktapur on Monday, TMLP Chair claimed that the talks would fail if the government was seeking to confine the agitating sides by forming a phony dialogue team.
"The three party leaders in informal talks say they will address the demands raised in the Madhes, but we are suspicious they are plotting an extensive scheme by holding meeting inside closed doors," Thakur said adding, "They are trying to confine us by forming a pretentious dialogue team, and the dialogue will not succeed if the talks team come without a clear road map."
He said the political parties are centered on forming a new government and added that the agitation and blockade would continue as talks were tilting more towards pretention. Thakur claimed that the blockade was imposed by the Madhes-centric parties rather than India.
Thakur said although the Kathmandu valley was under pressure due to the blockade, the people of Tarai have been facing its direct impact. He accused the government of discriminating against the citizens in Tarai/Madhes for 52 days without treating them as the citizens of the country.
The TMLP leader further warned that the agitation would intensify if the demands related to delineation of provincial borders, inclusive proportionality, constituency and citizenship were neglected.
