A protestor had died after being caught in police firing near Shankaracharya gate, the main gateway to Nepal, in Birgunj border entry point. The deceased protestor had sustained bullet injuries to his head and was reported to be in critical condition.
Acting Medical Director at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital Imam Ul-Haq informed that the injured protester breathed his last before reaching the hospital. "He was already dead before he could reach the hospital. He had sustained bullet injuries in the head," said Ul-Haq.
Police fired dozens of bullets and teargas shells after being heavily pelted with stones by protestors near the border.
Several protesters sustained injuries from the rubber bullet fired by the security forces.
The Birgunj-Raxual border point has come under control of protestors. The agitating protestors, who were chased away from the Indian Territory, returned to Miteri bridge.
They have been pelting stones at Nepali security forces from Indian territory. Nepali police have been mobilised at Nepali side.
Police personnel had opened the border since 5 am Monday morning by vacating the protestors from the Miteri Bridge. However, once the Indian trucks stranded at the Nepali side entered into India, Indian security forces allowed entry to the agitating protestors in the Dashgaja area.
Once the protestors entered the area, they immediately resumed their sit-in protest.
