- Post Report, Kathmandu

Nov 7, 2015-

UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Nepali people are ready to stand against India's undue pressure manifested through the ‘undeclared’ blockade. He was speaking during a press conference at Butwal on Saturday.

While Nepal has done everything to maintain a cordial bilateral relationship, but if undue pressure continues Nepali people are ready to retaliate against India’s oppression, the Maoist leader said.

“We want to carry Nepal-India relation through understanding,” said Dahal, adding, “But if India tries to dominate us, we should be ready to fight against such oppression.”

Chairman Dahal, also a former Prime Minister, said that Nepali people have not made any mistake by promulgating own constitution and India should not try to punish Nepal for this. He went on to say that the constitution has not discriminated any sect of the society and when it comes to identity issue, the Madhesi people have been benefitted with more rights than ever.

Saying that the India, as a good neighbour, should welcome and assist the decisions taken by Nepal, leader Dahal said if India continues to bother Nepal, Nepali people should cluster together to retaliate.

He also said the time has come to redefine Nepal-India relation, adding that it would be a proper thing for future generations. He opined that India asking probe into the events pertaining from People’s War during the 23rd Universal Periodic Review is irrelevant.

Dahal, who was also the supreme commander of People’s Liberation Army, said the country has again been blemished by the Madhes agitation and India’s ‘undeclared’ blockade after the constitution promulgation which is viewed as a historic achievement in Nepal.

He said the constitution amendment proposal backed by Nepali Congress should be carried ahead with the participation of agitating Madhes-based parties.

Talking about former UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai, who recently severed his ties with the party, leader Dahal said that he has been bearing with him from past 25 years. Now not only himself, but the entire country is bearing him, said Dahal.
