The World Food Programme (WFP)’s two MI17 helicopters have been grounded for last 3 days—affecting delivery of emergency supplies to three worst earthquake affected districts--due to the shortage of fuel.

WFP helicopters usually made four sorties every day to high altitude villages of Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha and Dolakha to deliver food supplies to 146,000 people affected by the earthquake.

“We were told that we would receive fuel in 3 days,” said Iolanda Jaquemet, WFP’s Communications Officer.
