A meeting Friday of the Women, Children, Senior Citizens and Social Welfare Committee, Legislature-Parliament instructed the Ministry of Health and Population to take effective standards to ensure smooth supply of medicines affected with India's unofficial blockade on the country.
Medicines provided by foreign organisations could not be brought in and 300 containers carrying medicines have stuck in the border due to border blockade and the government should work seriously to normalise the situation, Committee President Ranju Kumari Jha said.
Minister for Health and Population Ramjanam Chaudhary said there was a shortage of eight/nine verities of drugs and the Ministry has planned to take all possible measures including rerouting medicine cargos stuck in border to handle the situation.
Lawmaker Dhaniram Poudel demanded the Nepal Oil Corporation provide fuel to bodies involved in the supplies of medicines.
Likewise, the Committee instructed the Ministry of Youth and Sports to resolve disputes surfaced in sports sector of late. RSS
