The US Marine helicopter that had been here on a humanitarian relief delivery mission in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake crashed on May 20 at Kalinchowk VDC of Dolakha district, killing all on board including the crew members and five locals.
The locals Sabitri Siwakoti,50, of Lamidanda-6, Om Bahadur Khatri,50, and Shiva Khatri, 58, , Dhruba KC Katuwal, 30, and Lok Bahadur KC Katuwal, 58 of of Laduk-7 . The Chopper was carrying the earthquake injured to the capital.
The five victims' families have not provided the compensation amount yet.
Though they have already submitted all documents demanded by the US Embassy here and completed all required processes, they have not been given any compensation, Basu Dev Khatri, 28, of Laduk-7 who lost his father in the crash said.
Chandra Kumari Khatri, 42, of Laduk-7 said she had made frequent visits to the District Administration Office with the hope of getting the compensation for the death of his husband, every time she had to return empty-handed. Every visit costs at least Rs 2,000, she said. District Office
When approached Chief District Officer of Dolakha Devendra Lamichhane said the Office is waiting for the release of the compensation amount from the US Embassy.
We would distribute the amount once we get from the Embassy, he said.
We have sent all documents demanded by the Embassy and let's hope the Embassy would allocate the amount very soon. RSS
