Mahato meets Indian minister in New DelhiExternal Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj has expressed her hope that the ongoing dialogue in Nepal between the government and the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha will reach a conclusion soon.
Swaraj met Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, who is still in New Delhi following his treatment at the Haryana-based Medanta Hospital, in Jawahar building on Friday.
“We hope that Nepal government will move ahead by forging an agreement with the agitating Madhes-based parties,” Mahato quoted Swaraj as saying. Nepal Desk chief Abhay Thakur also attended Swaraj’s hour-long meeting with the Madhesi leader.
Mahato reportedly told Swaraj that the Madhesi Morcha did not agree with the constitution amendment proposal presented by the major parties. He said they would not accept the amendment bill if the government did not discuss its contents with the Morcha. Mahato communicated to Delhi that the Tarai parties would continue their protest until their demands are addressed.
