Nepal-China relations gaining new heights: DPM Thapa

The 60-year-old diplomatic relations between two closest neighbours have further strengthened, he said.
Launching a book titled "Stories of China and Nepal" published in commemoration of the diamond jubilee of the establishment of Nepal-China diplomatic ties, the Foreign Minister said the book containing fact-based details relating to both countries is expected to further consolidate relations between the two countries.
Nepal and China have been enjoying friendly relations based on trust since the past and Nepal wants to utlise support and cooperation from China in its socio-economic endevours. "China never interferes in Nepal's domestic affairs and Nepal too is always dedicated to a 'one-China policy' and many national personalities including former kings Mahendra and Birendra to prime ministers Matrika Prasad Koirala, Bishweshwor Prasad Koirala and Kirtinidhi Bista contributed a lot in establishing the multi-dimensional relations between the two countries."
Talking about his latest visit to China, Minister Thapa said the visit remained meaningful in terms of promoting bilateral assistance and mutual relations and a process had been initiated to prepare a draft of a transit treaty with China.
Similarly, Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai said the book would prove useful in further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The latest visit by the government representatives to China have helped take the bilateral relations to a new height. Nepal is always dedicated to a one China policy and grateful towards China's regular diversified assistance.
Minister Rai, who is also the government spokesperson, insisted on developing trade relations between the two countries through a new dimension.
Former Prime Minister Kirtinidhi Bista said all should contribute from their respective capacities to further consolidate the long diplomatic ties existing between the two countries.
China's former Ambassador to Nepal Sun Su Young said China is a good friend of Nepal and its natural beauty, beautiful mountains and the birthplace of Gautam Buddha have helped consolidate the bilateral relations.
Likewise, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai said that despite geographical adversities, China, as a neighbour, would stand in favour of Nepal’s prosperity and progress forever. Saying that China’s neighbour foreign policy is based on the five principles of peaceful coexistence, he said that diplomatic relations between China and Nepal would be taken to a greater height in the days to come.
Also on the occasion, senior journalist Devendra Gautam said that the book published in the context of Nepal marking its 60 years-old relationship with China has accommodated historic and inspiring relations between both the countries.
Edited by Kiran Gautam, the 360-page book comprises eight articles on relation, cooperation and culture by Chinese personalities and articles by Nepali diplomats and renowned authors. Price of the book is Rs 1,200. RSS
