Nepse crosses 1,250 pts to set fresh record

The secondary market has been on inclining trend for the last few weeks due to the excess liquidity with the banks, positive development in political consensus and introduction of the full fledged paperless shares transaction. As a result, the investors in secondary market gained Rs41 billion in just last two weeks.
According to the Nepse, the market capitalisation reached to Rs1,347.2 billion on Thursday, up from Rs1,306.21 billion on January 18. Over the period, the Nepse added up more than 39 points in its index.
Along with the Nepse, the transaction volume also jumped to more than Rs709 million, almost double compared to the normal day trading when the stock market turnover used to hover around Rs300-350 million. Just over last five trading days, the total volume of transaction at the Nepse accounted at Rs2.8 billion.
