Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday has said that shutdown, strike and politics of violence should be shunned from the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. 

Saying that the country of Buddha – the epistle of peace and non-violence – is reeling under unrest, PM Oli said the drive to eliminate violent activities including shutdown should rather be expanded to other parts of the country keeping in mind the specialty of the zone. 

PM Oli, who arrived here to take stock of the Lumbini master plan and inspect developments taking place here, was speaking at a programme in Lumbini. 

On the occasion, PM Oli said that the peace message and teachings of Buddha should be spread across the globe. 

Stressing the need for developing Lumbini as a symbol of peace, he said it would be a sin to carry out criminal activities in the birthplace of Buddha. 

Meanwhile, PM Oli directed authorities concerned to complete the backlog of works under the Lumbini master plan at the earliest possible. 

Assuring that the government would release Rs 6 billion required to execute the master plan, he directed them to complete the project within next three years. 

The Prime Minister also directed them to submit designs of all physical structures under the plan to the government within next six months. 

Also on the occasion, PM Oli inspected the Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini and offered worships there. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Minister for Labour and Employment Dipak Bohara and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Pokharel accompanied PM Oli. 

Vice Chairman at the Lumbini Development Trust Siddhartha Maharjan, member secretary Ajitman Tamang and senior engineer Saroj Bhattarai apprised PM Oli of the master plan. RSS
