Demanding immediate release of Kedia, the organisations on Friday urged the government to ensure safe release of Kedia and provide necessary security to the businessmen.
Kedia, a member of Kedia organisation, was abducted from Baghaban along the Kalaiya-Mahagadhi road stretch in Bara district on Thursday evening. The abductors shot at Suresh’s driver Shyam Sah Kanu before taking the businessman under their control.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), the largest umbrella body Nepali private sector, has condemned the kidnapping, saying that such incidents incite fear among the business fraternity. FNCCI has sought immediate release of Kedia and wished Kanu a speedy recovery.
Similarly, the CPN-UML has also condemned the incident.
In a statement today, CPN-UML said the abduction could be a ploy of anti-national elements at a time when the government was slowly gaining stability following the promulgation of constitution.
"We urge the government and security agencies to play proactive role to release Kedia," the statement reads. It has drawn the government’s attention to control such incidents and create conducive environment for investments.
