The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has seriously objected over treatment towards earthquake victims on the basis of political attachment. 

At a special hour of today's meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, NC lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC blamed the government and National Reconstruction Authority (NRC) for not being serious towards the problems of earthquake victims. 

KC said, "The real earthquake victims have been neglected being influenced by political favour and prejudices."

Stating that although agreement was signed to provide assistance to more than 47,000 households, only 2,000 households have received the assistance, he demanded the government to provide the assistance immediately and to expedite the reconstruction task. 

Lawmaker KC also objected over political appointment in a monopolistic manner and vented his ire on NRC for carrying out works in a political party. He also presented the reality before the House of not getting reconstruction materials by victims in an easy and smooth manner. 

Similarly, another lawmaker Guru Prasad Burlakoti demanded carrying out survey in Dhading district once again while Krishna Dhital asked the government to provide grant amount to quake victim families immediately. 

Various lawmakers including Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Prem Suwal, Nabindraraj Joshi, Subodh Kumar Pokharel, Rajan Bhattarai, Lokmani Dhakal and Milan Kumari Rajbanshi also drew the government's attention over quake survivors' problems, among others. 

Taking time from the Speaker, Madhes-centric political party lawmaker Lal Babu Raut complained that no concrete solution to Madhes issue has been found so far despite calling them for talks repetitively. He demanded that their demands be met. 

He also ruled out the need to invite them for talks without first addressing demands of protesting Sanghiya Gathabandhan.

He also accused the government of failing to address concerns of Madhesi people, indigenous nationalities, provide assistance to April 25 earthquake survivors and maintain good governance. 

Saying that it was not wise to engage in the parliament affairs under these circumstances, he announced that his party would boycott today's meeting and walked out of the meeting along with lawmakers of protesting Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal. RSS
