Vehicular movement through Rasuwagadhi customs came to a halt on Tuesday after two massive landslides blocked the two-kilometre Timure-Rasuwagadhi stretch. Twenty-five containers parked near the customs office were also damaged in the landslides. The containers were preparing to leave for Kerung in China to ferry goods.
Nearly two dozen containers loaded with goods have been stranded near Nepal-China border because of landslides.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abadesh Bista said the local administration has asked the Chinese security personnel to divert the Nepal-bound containers to safe location after the landslide-caused traffic obstructions.
DSP Bista added reopening the road could take more than 30 hours as they lack equipment.
A dozer belonging to Road Division Office is trapped in Mulkharka area after a landslide. Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Adhikari said Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilised in the landslide-hit areas to clear the debris.
Meanwhile, mudslides have blocked the road at Ramche, Gaun and Mulkharka areas in the district. Police said continuous mudslides have hindered their efforts to resume traffic.
