Youths associated with Swatantra Yuva Abhiyaan (Independent Youth Campaign) gathered at Maitighar Mandala on Friday to extend support to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is likely to lose the premiership after major coalition partner—CPN (Maoist Centre)—withdrew its support from the government.
The event was conducted with the theme “Let’s unite for the nation #iamwithkpoli”. Thousands of people from all sectors gathered in the event.
Many of the participants displayed play card that read ‘I am with KP Oli’, ‘We want stable government, We want developed Nepal’, among others.
“The present government must be stable for upcoming five years,” said actor Raja Rajendra Pokharel during his speech in the event.
“If Oli-led government is toppled, the whole nation will be disappointed,” said Ashim Timalsina, a student at Kathmandu-based Madan Bhandari Memorial College, “For the first time in the history of Nepal, the nation has got a truly nationalist person as a prime minister which is something to be proud of."
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli became the first Prime Minister under the newly adopted constitution of Nepal on October 11, 2015.
