Fewer public vehicles operated on the road, giving commuters a hard time while all the schools remained shut.
Some cases of arson were reported even as security was beefed up in the Valley.
Police arrested 65 banda enforcers from various places in the valley. Two taxis, in Gongabu and Baneshwor, were completely damaged when they were torched by banda enforcers.
The strike partially affected life outside the valley.
In Chitwan, a truck laden with medicines was torched by unknown gang. Chitwan DSP Jayaram Sapkota informed the truck (Na 5 Kha 7432) was torched at around 1:15 am at Niponi in Chitwan.
The search for the perpetrators is on, said DSP Sapkota.
Meanwhile, cadres of Biplab Chand-led Maoist have torched a truck in Tanahun for defying the strike called by the party.
The truck was torched at Andheri Khola along the Prithivi Highway in Bandipur at 5:30 this morning. The truck was carrying cement from Bhairahawa.
Police has also arrested six cadres from headquarters Damauli while enforcing the strike.
