Incessant rain and flash floods at Manohara River and Hanumante River has displaced dozen of people living nearby the banks of the river on Tuesday.
Over three dozen of squatters living on the river banks of Mohahora River, starting from Pepsikola to Jadibuti stretches were compelled to flee their houses as the water in the river had overflowed to their settlements.
Meanwhile, the swollen Hanumante river inundated Maheshwori playground in Bhaktapur Municipality and settlements at Sallaghari, Nayawasti, Siddhi Memorial Hospital and Radhe Radhe in Madhyapur Thimi.
Police say an excavator has been used in the river to channalise the river's course. According to SP Kiran Bajracharya of the circle the road section that leads to Ashapur from Doleshwor Mahadev in the district has been blocked due to the landslide.
The road sections that lead to Nagarkot in Mohanpokhari were obstructed on Tuesday afternoon due to the landslide. Meanwhile, four houses in Kharipati in Nagarkot Municipality are at high risk, due to the landslide.
“No human casualties have been reported so far, but we got a lot of complains about public saying they are having hard time for the transportation,” said Tez Prasad Paudel, the Chief District Officer. He said, over 300 security personnel are kept in stand by, if the district is gripped by any unwanted disaster.
