Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Kunti Kumari Shahi, National Planning Commission member Sumitra Amatya, former chief secretary Leela Mani Poudyal, the initiator of the campaign and former secretaries Jaya Mukunda Khanal and Suresh Prakash Acharya among others participated in the Saturday’s clean-up campaign.
Speaking at the event, Minister Shahi requested everyone to participate in making the river clean and extend support to make the campaign success.
Government officials, students, representatives from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City and Lalitpur Jyapu Samaj, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel, local clubs and various associations affiliated with the participated in the campaign.
Similarly, five metric tonnes of solid waste was removed from the Bishnumati river from the Kuleshwor-Mahadevsthan area in Teku as the Bishnumati Clean-up Campaign marked its 103rd week.
Solid waste was also extracted from the Rudramati river.
Over 200 trees planted
KATHMANDU: The High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilisation has planted as many as 205 plants along the Minbhawan bridge-Baneshwor Campus stretch, according to Rajesh Prasad Singh, secretary of the Committee. Over 150 people took part in the tree plantation programme. (PR)
