In what can be dubbed as one of the brutal cases of domestic violence in Nepalgunj, an 18-year-old married girl was beaten mercilessly by her in-laws for failing to bring dowry.
According to Banke District Police Office spokesperson DSP Bhim Kiran Bogati, Aasrun Jolaha of Balegaun, Nepalgunj-19 was beaten half to death by her husband Barsiya Wasim Jolaha, 24, and mother-in-law Babadaiya Jolaha. The police have arrested and filed a murder charge against the mother-son duo, informed DSP Bogati.
Aasrun, who sustained fatal injury to her eyes, is receiving medical treatment at Nepalgunj Medical Hospital.
The domestic violence case came into light after the victim was brought to the local Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The victim, in her statement, has said that she was repeatedly beaten by her in-laws since her arranged marriage two years ago.
