Busy and sensitive areas in the Valley will be brought under the surveillance of CCTV cameras, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office (MPCO) has said CCTV cameras have already been installed at 241 public locations and work to install such cameras at 94 other locations, including in Jawalakhel, Satdobato, Budhanilkantha and Maharajgunj areas, is underway. “We are installing CCTV cameras at various locations as part of our efforts to up security and curb traffic rule violations,” said the MPCO.
“Areas outside Ring Road will also have CCTV cameras,” said MPCO Commissioner Pratap Singh Thapa said.
The installation of CCTV cameras is expected to cost around Rs 20 million, according to the MPCO.
