NC Prez Deuba meets Indian PM Modi

Post earthquake reconstruction and implementation of the new constitution, among other issues, figured during the meeting that lasted for about 35 minutes.
“Indian PM Modi expressed India’s readiness to lend any kind of support for the post earthquake reconstruction, and underscored the need to expedite the rebuilding of damaged structures,” Deuba told the Post. “I informed him about the progress made in the reconstruction and told him about the need of India’s assistance for the same.”
Likewise, the leaders also held discussion on the implementation of the new constitution.
According to Deuba, he informed Modi about the efforts being made to bring on board Madhesi, Tharu, among other groups dissatisfied with the new constitution. In response, Modi said that the implementation of the new constitution would be easier if the disgruntled people were taken along.
“If the disgruntled section of people could be brought on board for all political processes including implementation of the new constitution, it would ensure peace, stability and progress,” Deuba quoted Modi as telling him during the meeting.
The meeting between the leaders took place from 10:45 to 11:20 this morning.
The NC president said the constitution amendment proposal would be registered at the parliament as soon as he returns to Nepal and it would address the grievances seen in the constitution.
