Property worth over Rs1.6 million was destroyed in incidents of fire that broke out separately at Sunsari and Terhathum on Thursday night.

Eastern Regional Police Office in Biratnagar said the fire erupted due to short circuit in a poultry farm belonging to Dal Bahadur Rai at Bharaul-3, Sunsari. 300 chicks and a tin-roofed house was burnt down in the incident causing a loss of property worth Rs1.5 million.

The fire was brought under control by the help of locals, police and fire brigade.

Similarly, property worth Rs150,000 was destroyed in a fire that broke out at Chuhandada-5, Terhathum.
