Lok Janani, a Kathmandu-based NGO, with help from Nepal Ireland Society and Marwari Sewa Samaj distributed construction materials for the construction of wooden houses for 40 families, it is learnt.
At a time when quake survivors are perplexed as to what kind of houses to build with government provided grant of Rs50,000 as a first installment of promised Rs300,000, the initiative of Lok Janani has changed the fate of these Dadagaun families displaced by last year's earthquake.
A local Lokdhoj Karki shared that Lok Janani played a role of mother by distributing them construction material at a time when they had no proper shelter to continue their life properly.
The organisation's Chairman Punam Mishra said that they focused Dadagaun to execute their humanitarian agenda because many government and non-government organisation working to help quake-affected people were only reaching out to the districts that were hit hard by the earthquake. As no helping hands were present at this remote Dadagaun village, Lok Janani decided to reach out here, shared Mishra.
The 40 wooden houses constructed with the help of Lok Janani have green zinc roof. According to the NGO'S Chairman Mishra, construction materials worth Rs50,000-60,000 were distributed to build each home.
