The rally summoned by joint struggle committee marched through Mitramani Chok to Jumri Bazar in the district. Locals supported the protest rally by shutting down their shops and joined the rally carrying lanterns and candles.
Pyuthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Gyamuram Neupane said that the rally was a symbolic protest to draw the attention of the government that has turned blind eye to their agitation for long.
Addressing a corner assembly after the rally, Lawmakera Dhan Bahadur Rayamajhi said there was no alternative for government to withdraw the proposal as the residents of the district that's border is supposed to change as per the amendment bill, are dissatisfied with the provision and unwilling to allow the revision of the border of their district.
"Around 200 lawmakers are against the amendment. Even if the bill goes into process, it won't be endorsed," said Rayamajhi.
Nepali Congress district President Amar Prasad Bhandari said, "We have asked party leadership to back down from its stand to amend the constitution. Few top leadership of our party has supported our demand," the leader said.
The agitators are in favour of further intensifying the protest after joint consultation with neighbouring districts Rolpa and Dang on Wednesday, according to the joint struggle committee's Pyuthan coordinator Purna Bikram Nepali.
