The Supreme Court has issued an order against the immediate appointment of general manager at Nepal Television. 

A single bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki on Wednesday issued the order asking the NTV to put on hold the appointment process. Both sides have been invited for discussion on January 3. 

The court delivered such decision in response to a writ petition filed by Executive Editor at NTV Rajendra Raj Timilsina. 

Timilsina had demanded the abrogation of present provision that allows the filing of application for the GM post at NTV from those with seven year's experience in private media, while bars senior officer with higher experience and are working at NTV. Citing this, he demanded the appointment process be forwarded through the Public Service Commission. 

He had argued that provision was discriminatory. The qualification and appointment criteria at the bodies under the Ministry of Information and Communications (first amendment)-2073 have the provision that the officers and senior officers at NTV can not file application for the post of General Manager.
