Ruling parties CPN (Maoist Center) and Nepali Congress have welcomed Supreme Court's refusal to issue interim order against amendment bill registered at the Parliament.

The parties have also decided to forward the bill on Tuesday's Parliament meeting.

Opposition parties including main opposition CPN-UML have been obstructing parliament meet for past one month claiming the amendment bill as unconstitutional. SC's decision has now put pressure on the UML to resume house business.

NC leader and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said the court's decision has cleared the path for constitution amendment. "Apex court has said parliament is the place for discussion and proved UML's claim of amendment bill being unconstitutional as wrong," he said. Nidhi said the government is planning to present the amendment bill and election bill at the parliament on Tuesday.

Nidhi said government attempts to forward the bill was foiled by parliament obstruction. When asked about UML's remarks about amending constitution only after formation of federal provinces, Nidhi said, "If they [UML] have little of political honesty and belief on the parliamentary system left in them, they should budge from their stance. There is no point in obstructing the parliament again."
