A standing committee meeting of the party at party chief KP Sharma Oli's residence on Tuesday concluded there was no point in deliberating on redrawing the federal boundaries as sought by the amendment bill following SC's verdict.
Party secretary Gokarna Bista said the meeting has decided to draw government's attention after SC verdict established that amendments related to provincial boundaries are invalid without being sanctioned by the state assemblies.
The meeting also concluded that the apex court order had validated its opposing stance on the amendment bill. The Supreme Court on Monday declined to issue interim order against the amendment bill.
The meeting also explored ways to move ahead with the protest programmes. Bista said a meeting of the opposition parties on Tuesday afternoon will decide on the protest programmes.
UML has been obstructing the parliament meeting for the past one month after government registered the amendment bill at the parliament. The parliament meeting has been postponed for six days and will convene on Sunday.
