General people are facing the brunt of Melamchi water-pipe installation along the Satdobato-Dholahiti road section in Lalitpur.
With the recent rainfall that occurred on Monday, the road section has become muddy causing distress to daily commuters including pedestrians and vehicles plying through the road.
A tempo, Ba 1 Ha 4175, of Hiralal Tamang of Kavre, got stuck on a pothole yesterday and it took him 3 hours to get his vehicle out.
On December 16, Tamang’s tempo tipped over on the road causing injury to two passengers whose medical expenses fell on Tamang’s lap including the wage to fix his vehicle.
“Let alone earning, I spent almost Rs 4,000 for the treatment of the injured and another Rs 2,500 to fix my vehicle,” said Tamang, “Travelling along this road has been troublesome.”
Another tempo (Ba 1 Ha 4758) of Bir Bahadur Tamang of Dhapakhel over turned on December 30 and on January 1 another tempo ( Ba 1 Ha 4223) tripped over at Tutepani. However, no one was seriously injured in the accidents.
Likewise, riding two-wheelers along the muddy road section have also been a pain for the riders. The front tire of a motor-cycle of Ganesh Silwal of Mahatgaun, Lele jammed due to the mud as he was forced to drag his vehicle off the road and to a workshop before he could ride again.
Similarly, during the dry days, the road section becomes dusty and pedestrians along with drivers and shopkeepers along the road section are forced to breathe in and work under hazardous conditions.
