Information and Communications Minister Surendra Karki informed that the government has appointed Govinda Pokharel as the new chief of the NRA.
A Cabinet meeting today decided to sack Gyewali from the post stating that the two clarifications furnished by the erstwhile NRA Chief was unsatisfactory.
The KP Sharma Oli-led government had appointed Gyewali to the top post of the NRA.
The government on December 29 had sought clarification from Gyewali over the delays in carrying out post-earthquake rebuilding works.
The erstwhile NRA chief executive had furnished clarification on January 4. The Cabinet on January 5 concluded that the clarification submitted by Gyewali a day prior was not satisfactory after which he was asked to furnish a second clarification to the government.
On January 9, Gyewali submitted the second clarification at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
