The suspect has been identified as Dev Raj Tamang, 31, of Sasyukharka-7, Sindhupalchok.
Police said that Tamang had coughed up Rs 205,000 from Chapan Sari Rai of Bahunudanda-9, Khotang and Rs 840,000 from Hiralal Thakuri, Gokul Regmi, Laxman Regmi, Ramesh Shedai, Bal Ram Gajurel of Jeevanpur, Dhading, Sambhu Prasad Lohani of Chatredeurali, Dhading, Sudan Bhattarai of Sitapaila, Kathmandu, assuring them of lucrative jobs in Japan.
After the victims knew that they were cheated, they filed a joint complaint at the MPCD.
Based on the complaint, a police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) nabbed Tamang from Basundhara of the Capital.
Police said that he has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for investigation.
