The use of Rañjanā script used in the Newari language and that which reflects Kathmandu Valley's tradition, culture and identity had been removed from official letter pad and signboard with the implementation of the new local level structure.
Executive Head and Executive Officer, Ishwor Raj Poudel, removed the script and logo as it was necessary to change the names of the newly formed village councils and municipalities during the implementation of the 744 local levels.
KMC Board Meeting took the decision to reinstate the use of the script after demands started pouring in from different sides, KMC Media Official, Chandramani Bhattarai said.
The locals had even demonstrated under the coordination of local Naresh Bir Shakya citing that the removal of the script entailed the loss of the national identity. The script has been registered as Nepal's traditional script since the time it gained membership of the United Nations (UN). RSS
