The conference is being held from March 23-26 in the Boao City of Hainan Province of the northern neighbour.
He flew to China at 11 pm today via China Southern Airlines.
After his engagements at the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan province, Dahal is scheduled to fly to Beijing where he will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi on Monday.
Although PM Dahal will discuss some crucial bilateral issues with Chinese authority, no pacts or understandings will be signed with Beijing, according to Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat.
PM Dahal views this visit as significant one in terms of consolidating the bilateral relations between Nepal and China. Recently a Chinese newspaper had run an article stating that Dahal’s pro-India foreign policy had left Sino-Nepal relationship into low ebb.
This is PM Dahal’s first visit to China since he took the government helm for the second time in August last year. According to Foreign Minister Mahat, Dahal government “is opting for silent diplomacy”.
Earlier in the day, PM Dahal held consultations with former Prime Ministers and China experts to solicit advice for the visit.
Furthermore, he also held a meeting with Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) at his official residence in Baluwatar this evening. Issues of local level elections and constitution amendment were discussed during the meeting.
