The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
Police said that three persons were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Hospital.
Hundreds of vehicles leaving for Kathmandu and Pokhara from and via Chitwan have been left stranded halfway after the rockslide obstructed the road section.
As many as 105 security personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed to clear the debris deposited on the road.
A helicopter of the Nepal Army has also been kept on standby for the rescue operation.
It has been learnt that many people were injured in the incident that occured at around 10 am.
A jeep, tanker, truck and two motorbikes were buried under the rockslide, informed police.
Efforts are underway to clear the debris from the road.
Road expansion of the road section is underway and vehicular movement has been barred on the 36-kilometre section from 10:30 am to 3 pm.

DPM Nidhi directs for early rescue of injured persons
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi has directed the authorities concerned to carry out prompt rescue of the people injured in the incident.
Personnel from the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have been deployed to clear the debris deposited on the road, read statement issued by DPM Nidhi’s press advisor Ramji Dahal.
