An unidentified masked gang on Tuesday looted Rs 450,000 from a community cooperative located at Satti in Tikapur Municipality-7 in the district. 

According to police, four masked men who came on two motor bikes barged into the cooperative office and made off with the money at around 3:30 pm today.

The cooperative employees said the plunderers entered into the office and asked the staffers to empty the cash box by showing guns. The criminals fled towards Nepal-India border with the money, the employees said.

It has been learnt that there were no security guards at the cooperative office.

Meanwhile, police have tightened the movement across border following the incident.
